Legal Consultancy in Antalya

Ongoing legal advice for individuals, investors and businesses operating in Turkey.

Many legal problems in Turkey can be avoided with the right advice at the right time, which is what our legal consultancy in Antalya is for. We advise individuals, property owners, investors and small businesses before they sign, buy, hire or apply, and we do it in English, so you understand your options before you commit.

You can ask us for a one-off written opinion on a single question, or agree an ongoing retainer so that you or your company can call on us whenever an issue arises. Consultations are available at our office in Kepez or online by video call.

How we can help

  • One-off legal opinions on a specific question or document
  • Ongoing retainer advice for individuals, families and businesses
  • Reviewing contracts, official letters, notices and court papers before you respond
  • General guidance on setting up and running a company in Turkey
  • Preparing and checking powers of attorney
  • Coordinating sworn translations and notarial certification of documents
  • Dealing with authorities such as the tax office, municipality, land registry and the Provincial Directorate of Migration Management
  • Referring the matter into representation if a dispute does arise

A preventive approach

Most of the cases we see in court could have been handled more cheaply at an earlier stage. Typical examples are signing a lease or construction contract without understanding it, buying property without checking the title, missing a short deadline in an official letter, or ending an employment relationship in the wrong way. A short consultation before you act often costs far less than a lawsuit afterwards.

Good times to ask for advice include before buying or renting property, before signing any contract in Turkish, before starting a business or hiring staff, when you receive an official notice or payment order, and when your residence or family situation changes.

Advice for foreign investors and business owners

Foreign investors can generally set up and own a company in Turkey on the same terms as Turkish nationals. The most common forms are the limited liability company and the joint stock company. We can explain the practical steps, such as choosing a company type, preparing the articles of association, registering with the trade registry, obtaining a tax number and opening a bank account. We can also advise on the questions that follow, from commercial contracts and employment to residence permits for company owners. Ongoing matters are often best handled through a retainer, so that your contracts and decisions are checked before problems start.

Documents, translations and powers of attorney

Turkish authorities and courts work in Turkish. Foreign documents usually need an apostille (or consular legalisation) and a sworn Turkish translation, often certified by a notary. We tell you exactly which documents are needed and coordinate the translations with sworn translators.

If you live abroad, you can give us a power of attorney at a Turkish consulate, or before a local notary with an apostille and a sworn Turkish translation. If you are in Turkey, it can be signed at any Turkish notary; if you do not speak Turkish, a sworn interpreter will need to attend. The wording of the power of attorney matters, especially for property sales, so we prepare the text with you in advance.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a consultation and hiring a lawyer for a case?

A consultation answers your question and sets out your options. Representation means we act for you before an authority or court. Many clients start with a consultation and decide afterwards.

Can I get advice without coming to Antalya?

Yes. We hold consultations by video call and review documents sent by email. If formal steps are needed, a power of attorney can be arranged from abroad.

Do you work in languages other than English?

Yes. Our team works in English, German, Russian, Arabic and Turkish. See our lawyers for more about the team.

Is what I tell you confidential?

Yes. Attorneys in Turkey are bound by professional confidentiality, and this applies from the first consultation.

How are consultation fees set?

Fees are agreed in writing before the consultation or retainer starts and cannot be below the Union of Turkish Bar Associations' minimum fee tariff. Contact us to arrange a consultation.
